The Anvil

You can almost hear the ring of steel and feel the blisters. Blacksmithing is definitely one of those romantic yet masculine occupations of the past. I handcraft this tiny anvil from mild steel and the black colour is made by heat treating and tempering in oil - it is not painted. The block it sits on is ironbark timber from our property. Antique fencing wire was used to fashion the tongs. The frame is made from raw cypress pine, local to our area, and two panels of laminated glass. Looks beautiful on a window sill in the natural light. Dimensions of the frame approx. 20cm wide x 18cm tall x 9.5cm deep. Approx weight 2.3kg

Hard Work

Whether it's shoveling soil, cement or even manure, the shovel gets to do all the rugged and dirty jobs. The wheelbarrow is handcrafted from recycled galvanised tin and antique fencing wire. The tiny shovel is ironbark timber and recycled tin. The frame is local raw cypress pine with laminated glass, hence the weight. This looks great on a window as it doesn't obscure your view, or on your desk or coffee table. Although the wheel on the barrow is made to spin freely, the items are glued in their display positions. Any photos showing items separate from their display frame are included simply to give you a better idea of size and shape. Dimensions of the frame approx. 20cm wide x 18cm tall x 9.5cm deep. Approx weight 2kg

The Woodpile

The picturesque quality of the woodpile without the hard work. This scene is what you'll find outside the typical Aussie farm - we usually can't be bothered putting the axe back in the shed. The woodpile is a place to avoid in summer on account of the snakes lurking somewhere beneath it. The axe head is made from recycled steel and the handle from ironbark timber from our property. The frame is local raw cypress pine with laminated glass, hence the weight and the high postage. This looks great on a window as it doesn't obscure your view, or on your desk or coffee table. The items in the display are glued in position. Dimensions of the frame approx. 20cm wide x 18cm tall x 9.5cm deep. Approximate weight 2kg.

Autumn

Our Australian eucalyptus trees drop leaves all the time and never in the beautiful colours of northern half of the world in autumn. Truth be told, I never rake anything up but leave it as a home for spiders! The wheelbarrow is handcrafted from recycled galvanised tin and antique fencing wire. The rake is fencing wire and copper.
